Bringing Hospital Digital Wayfinding Kiosks to Ireland
Touchscreen technology has evolved greatly over the past few years, with the majority of people using it in various mediums on a daily basis. To read more about this evolution, click here
It is no surprise that most industries are finding a use for Touchscreen technology. The healthcare industry is just one example of an industry embracing the Touchscreen trend. Ireland’s largest hospital, Tallaght hospital (also known as the Adelaide and Meath Hospital Dublin Incorporating the National Children’s Hospital) has announced their intention of providing digital Wayfinding kiosks in their hospital. It will come as no surprise that this is one of the first hospital’s in Ireland to embrace Wayfinding, with it’s track record for being technologically up to date (even providing children with mp4 players to play music and TV while waiting for scans).
Digital Wayfinding solutions have been increasing in popularity amongst the retail and healthcare institutions. A digital wayfinder solution is a kiosk with intuitive user interface, which allows visitors find a route map to their destination. The Tallaght hospital will be placing 8 kiosks around the hospital to accommodate the some 220,000 visitors they receive each year. The planned kiosks will allow the user to check in for their appointment and plan their best route to the location of their appointment. The system will be available in ten languages and will provide a printed ticket with the users information to present at the relevant departments.
Combined Media have been involved in the digital Wayfinding solutions market with partner company ‘Touchpoint’, and have already deployed several hospital Wayfinding solutions in the UK. For example, Broomfield Mid-Essex Hospital.
The technology of allowing users to check in, route destinations, print tickets, and print maps will be exceedingly useful in the hospital market. To find out more about digital wayfinding solutions, ask us here.
