LinkedIn Opt In 100 Million Users For Third Party Advertising
I came across a another blog post last night that informed me that LinkedIn have added third party sharing to our accounts. Over 100 million accounts have had a new setting added to their profile under the guide of an updated privacy policy announced on their blog.
The new settings which you have already been opted into allow third party ad’s to use you as an ambassador for the brand. It seems that now when you see the ‘Ads by LinkedIn members’ which we have become accustom to seeing on our screen, you will also see pictures of people who have recommended or followed the brand.
For those of you who wish to amend these changes, follow these step:
Step One:
Hover over your name on the top right hand corner and click 'Settings'

Step Two:
On the main box, click on the tab ‘Account’ and then ‘Manage Social Advertising’

Step Three:
A pop up box will appear and you uncheck the box and click ‘Save’.

At this stage you may also want to change your email preferences which have automatically opted you in to receive email’s from third parties.
Step One:
Go back to the main box on your settings and select ‘Email Preferences’.
Step Two:
Then Click ‘Turn On/Off Partner Inmail’.

Step Three:
An the pop up box, uncheck both boxes.
