World Vision

World Vision is part of World Vision International, one of the leading development and humanitarian organisations founded over 50 years ago by Dr. Bob Pierce, a Christian Minister who was preaching in China. He was struck by the families living in extreme poverty and decided to send money to a little girl whose widowed mother could not afford to send her to school. The concept of child sponsorship was born.
Combined Media has been working with World Vision to promote this same core idea of Child Sponsorship and to help promote World Vision not just to core followers but also to a new generation of potential online donors and supporters. Some of the ways we have helped World Vision:
Redesign website
The task is to first of all engage with these potential supporters and so a re-designed and re-structured website was built which provides a much clearer and more focussed approach. See the new site at www.WorldVision.ie.
Build an online shop for gifts
Another focus for World Vision was to create an online shop to allow people buys gifts which will help communities. The shop was designed to look like their new site and to sit within it. The site has now gone live and is providing a great new source of revenue to them: www.WorldVisionGifts.ie
Search Marketing
One of the most important areas was to drive traffic to the site and in this we have been hugely successful. Our initial work on the site made it fare really well at #1 in organic SEO for "charity gifts". Add to that a first page video placement for the life changing gifts video which was exactly what we had in mind when we optimised the YouTube profile, hoping that decent exposure in YouTube would eventually carry over to an embedded video in the search results. The site is also in the top 3 results for ‘Christmas Charity Gifts’ which is a huge achievement for such a new site.
Simple explanation video
One frequent issue is trying to explain what it is you do in the shortest time possible. Short video explanations are ideal in the online environment where a YouTube generation will consume messages in the form of a 90 second video. With this in mind we sat down with World Vision and created such a video to better explain exactly what World Vision do, and how they work with their host communities – see for yourself at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHcLLyblb7o
